A postdoctoral position is available for functional studies of regulatory mechanism of potassium channels using patch-clamp technique in the laboratory of Tinatin Brelidze, Ph.D., in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at Georgetown University Medical Center.  A strong background in current recordings using patch-clamp technique, and a good publication record is required.  In addition to electrophysiology, the laboratory utilizes a variety of biophysical methods to study molecular mechanisms and physiological roles of ion channels, including structural biology, MD simulations, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), fluorescence-based techniques, and animal models.  The postdoctoral fellows will have an opportunity to participate in these multidisciplinary studies.  For more information on the laboratory please visit https://pharmacology.georgetown.edu/people/faculty/brelidze-2/

The position is supported by a T32 training grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  To be eligible the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).  The position is best suitable for applicants who plan to engage in a health-related field for the next three years as there is a payback obligation if these conditions are not met.  To apply, please email a CV, a cover letter describing research interests and experience, reprints of publications, and the names of three references to: Dr. Tinatin Brelidze (tib5@georgetown.edu).

The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology provides an exceptionally collegial environment for the professional development.  Georgetown University, one of the world’s leading academic and research institutions, is located in the vibrant Washington, DC community.
