Tenure Track Faculty Recruiting

The Pain Research Center of New York University (NYU) solicits applications for tenure track research-focused positions at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The Center is housed in state-of-the-art laboratories in the Department of Molecular Pathobiology of NYU College of Dentistry.

The Department of Molecular Pathobiology has a strong and rapidly expanding research program with substantial support from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and Foundations. Research in the Department focuses on understanding normal human biology and disease through studies of molecules, cells, tissues and systems. Current interests include pain, cell signaling, developmental biology, and infection and immunity. We wish to recruit outstanding scientists studying the fundamental mechanisms of chronic pain and seeking to develop new treatments for chronic pain. Successful applicants will be highly creative scientists who will lead and maintain a cutting-edge research program that will complement and synergize with current research in the NYU Pain Research Center and the Department of Molecular Pathobiology. They will positively interact with faculty of NYU Dentistry and will foster collaborations with the greater NYU and New York research communities. Individuals with interests in receptors, channels, signal transduction and cellular regulation are encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates should hold a PhD, DDS, MD or equivalent higher degree, and have a demonstrated record of scholarly excellence illustrated by the publication of influential research papers. Applicants at the level of Associate or Full Professor will be expected to have a record of sustained and substantial extramural funding. Applicants for Assistant Professor positions holding NIH K99/R00 or similar awards are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an externally funded research program and to contribute to the intellectual life of the Department through outstanding research, by mentoring and instructing students and postdoctoral fellows, and by contributing university and community service. Teaching requirements will be commensurate with the Department’s needs and the applicant’s qualifications.
