The Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Hollings Cancer Center, and College of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina is accepting applications for tenure eligible Associate Professor or Professor in Cancer Immunology and Living Therapeutics. We seek outstanding scientists who will bolster our diverse research portfolio, complementing our strengths in T cell biology, T cell metabolism, Tumor microenvironment, Target discovery, and Use of immune cells as vehicle for cancer therapy. Candidates conducting cutting-edge research broadly in cancer immunology and host-defense are especially encouraged to apply. This position is eligible for a Smartstate Endowed Chair. Candidates should hold a Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. Applicants should have a strong record of sustained productivity as demonstrated by publications and extramural funding. Highly competitive start-up packages are available including ample laboratory space. Appointment and rank will be determined by the applicant's qualifications.

Scientific environment:

The scientific environment within the College of Medicine and in the Department is highly interactive and productive, with ties on campus to other Basic Science and Clinical Departments, as well as Research Centers and Institutes. Outstanding core facilities are also available. MUSC has a clinical Good Manufacturing Facility that can be utilized for the generation of cellular products for the treatment of malignant diseases.

Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Successful applicants are expected to have, or to obtain, external grant support and to participate in teaching microbiology/immunology-based courses to graduate and medical students. Candidates should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. and demonstrate a record of productive and high-quality research. Academic credentials and existing extramural grant support will determine faculty rank. Current research programs are in Cancer Immunology, Transplantation Immunology, innate immunity, stem cell biology, infectious Pathogenesis, HIV, HCV. Highly competitive start-up packages are available including ample laboratory space.
