About the opportunity
You will lead and mentor our small but extremely talented staff within the Technology Discipline and grow our national and international reputation in both research and teaching. You will build on our research strengths in the broad areas of data science; cyber security; human factors / design science; and smart design for industry (including machine learning & AI, IoT, Cloud, security & networking) as well as establishing transdisciplinary links within and outside of UniSC. If you are a talented person working in other areas of computer science who feels they can help us build transdisciplinary links within and outside of the University, then we would also welcome your application.
Ideally, you will be able to teach across a broad range of courses at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level in the areas of computer science, data science and information technology. You will be responsible for developing and coordinating the suite of courses in one or more of the following research and teaching areas:
Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Digital Signal and Image Processing/Machine Vision Intermediate/advanced software development, object-oriented programming Cyber security Cloud and mobile development (DevOps and full stack web development) Networking and the Internet of things Low level computing (computer organization, operating systems, embedded programming, data structures and algorithms, compilers) Wearable technology and digital fabrication
- design, develop, evaluate and improve curricula and teaching;
- make use of appropriate technologies and media to support and enhance learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation;
- maintain currency in your discipline; support students to be successful learners; purposefully develop focused expertise within a field; and
- develop and maintain strategic research partnerships.

- completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field and comprehensive experience as an academic;
- a clear and coherent research program with a strong track record of sustained and productive engagement in high quality research;
- effectiveness in teaching and educational innovation;
- effective mentoring to develop the research capability of mid and early career researchers; and
- success in academic administrative functions.
