The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor for applicants with research interests in protein or nucleic acid biochemistry. We seek individuals investigating macromolecular function in any experimental system using contemporary biochemical or biophysical approaches, who can engage in constructive mentoring and contribute to departmental efforts to promote equity and inclusion.  This position will be affiliated with the Division of Biochemistry, which has existing strengths in structural biology, transcriptional regulation, computational biology, cancer biochemistry, and signaling.

The successful applicant will establish and maintain nationally competitive, externally funded research programs and participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching in Biochemistry. The position requires a Ph.D. and significant relevant academic experience.  The Department of Biology and Biochemistry has state-of-the-art laboratory space, well-equipped core facilities, and extensive high-performance computing resources. Excellent opportunities exist for research collaborations within the University of Houston as well as at the Texas Medical Center and other local institutions.
