One postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Dong-Joo (Ellen) Cheon in the Department of Regenerative and Cancer Cell Biology, Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. Albany Medical College offers an excellent research environment within the multi-institutional Albany Medical Center in the Capital District. We emphasize motivation and productive work in a collegial setting. Start date is negotiable, but immediate start is preferred. The position is open until filled.

Our research focuses on determining the molecular mechanisms by which ovarian cancer cells interact with various components of the tumor microenvironment to acquire metastatic and chemoresistant phenotypes. We are currently working on how a novel collagen subtype collagen type XI alpha 1 (COL11A1) regulates ovarian cancer chemoresistance and metabolism; and 2) how fatty acid metabolism and lipid droplet associated enzymes confer chemoresistance and immune response in ovarian cancer. Our long-term goal is to develop novel biomarker-guided targeted therapies to treat chemoresistant ovarian cancer thereby improving survival outcomes in ovarian cancer patients. We employ biochemical, genetic, genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic approaches in human cancer cell lines, mouse models, and patient samples to address critical questions underlying ovarian cancer progression and chemoresistance.

The ideal applicant should be a highly motivated and independent individual who has a recent PhD in cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell metabolism, immunology, or a related field. Previous experience in immunodeficient mice is preferred, but not required. Good writing and oral presentation skills are highly preferred. The successful candidate is expected to work immediately on the DOD-funded project and manuscripts in the pipeline for publication.

To apply, please send a curriculum vitae (CV), a cover letter (describing graduate training, relevant research background, research interest, the motivation why you apply to my lab, and ultimate career goal), and the names and contact information of three references to: Dr. Dong-Joo (Ellen) Cheon, MC-165, Department of Regenerative and Cancer Cell Biology, Albany Medical College. E-mail: cheond@amc.edu.
