What You Will Achieve

Bioprocess R&D (BRD) group at Andover, MA is seeking a highly driven and innovative Ph.D.-level scientist to join our upstream process development group as a postdoctoral research fellow in driving therapeutic innovation through technology development. This is a unique opportunity to be trained in the development of novel process technologies for the next generation of therapeutics and vaccines, work collaboratively with diverse research teams within Pfizer, and publish in high-impact journals.

As a postdoctoral fellow, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be part of the Research and Development team and will be responsible for conducting innovative science to drive new therapeutic discoveries. You will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge. How You Will Achieve It
  • Develop and implement independent research ideas. Contribute intellectually and at the bench to the conception, design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of data.
  • Participate in developing creative approaches to discover and optimize biocatalysts for novel modalities.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and scientific rigor in project planning and gap identification.
  • Produce high-quality data that will lead to first-author publication(s) in high-impact journals.
  • Collaborate effectively with Pfizer colleagues in other disciplines.
  • Generate and effectively communicate results regularly at internal meetings and make data-driven decisions in shaping the direction of the research project.
  • Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are performed according to scientific and ethical standards and correctly documented in the lab notebook.
  • Exercise and build basic team effectiveness skills {e.g., commitment, feedback, consensus management) within the context of immediate work group.


QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have
  • PhD in enzyme engineering, biomolecular engineering, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, bio/chemical engineering, or a related discipline is required
  • Good understanding of enzyme engineering principles and fundamentals of enzyme-catalyzed biotransformations and biomolecular interaction.
  • Proficient with data reporting and analysis software, strong planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong motivation, passion, and commitment to science and engineering of novel entities.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary scientific team both independently and as part of a team, strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Nice-to-Have
  • Technical knowledge and skills in the analysis of structural and dynamic properties of enzymes/ biomolecules and tailoring enzyme microenvironments towards process improvement.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing computational biomolecule and reaction modeling techniques.
