We seek a candidate capable of establishing an innovative discovery and/or translational research program in neuroscience/neuropharmacology. The department is particularly interested in applicants whose work focuses on molecular, cellular, or circuit function in the area of sensorimotor neurobiology and systems, especially within the auditory or vestibular systems to complement existing extramurally funded research in this area.

Strengths within the department and SIU SOM include auditory function, perception, and plasticity, neurobiology, aging, circadian biology, Alzheimer’s disease, neurodevelopmental disorders, epilepsy, cardiac physiology, cancer, and pain.

We seek an energetic scientist demonstrating strong commitments to research and teaching, collaborative potential, and an ability to bring novel expertise to the department.  Appointments are State-supported with a competitive salary, start up package and modern laboratory facilities. The successful applicant will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program and will contribute to both medical and graduate student education.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.  Appointment at Associate Professor will require evidence of current and sustained extramural research funding.  Eligible candidates must possess PhD and/or MD degrees, and 3+ years of postdoctoral research training with a strong publication record.
