Applications are invited for a fully-funded Post-Doctoral Associate position in the multidisciplinary group of Prof. Azam Gholami at New York University Abu Dhabi. The appointed candidate will be expected to work in one/more of the following areas:
• Hydrodynamic coupling in ciliary-driven flows .
• Flagellar waveform and swimming dynamics in micro-swimmers.
• Synchronization dynamics in coupled oscillatory systems.
• Nonlinear instabilities in reaction-diffusion-advection systems
• Pattern formation in biological systems
We seek a highly qualified candidate with a strong background of fluid dynamics simulations and strong programming skills in MATLAB, python and/or C/C++ . Previous work experience with fluid flow simulations in biological systems is ideal. Applicants should also have a strong track record of original research in the relevant topics. The appointed candidate will be expected to work closely with the experimentalists in the group, develop models based on experimental data, and contribute to data analysis. Familiarity working within a high-performance computing environment is ideal.
Applicants must have a PhD in (bio)physics or mathematics.
