Position Summary

A postdoctoral fellow/staff scientist research position is available immediately in the laboratories of Dr. Fouad Kandeel and Dr. Jiing-Kuan Yee, Department of Translational Research & Cellular Therapeutics. The research involves the generation of insulin-producing cells and the evaluation of their application in type 1 diabetes treatment. Scopes of the research include human stem cell culturing, genetic manipulation of human stem cells with CRISPR-Cas9, differentiation of stem cells into insulin-producing cells and transplantation of these cells into animal models.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Postdoctoral Fellows - A Ph.D./M.D. degree in life or biomedical sciences, or a related discipline is required.
  • Staff Scientist - The Staff Scientist must possess, at a minimum, the U.S. equivalent Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate discipline, and will often have a Ph.D. or other doctoral level degree.

Preferred education experience and skills:
  • Experienced in molecular biology and cell biology, and a minimum of 3-year experience in culturing mammalian cells.
  • The candidate should have excellent communication skills in English, proficient in computer software, and proven ability to work independently within a research laboratory.
  • Hand-on experience in handling animal work is a plus but not a prerequisite.
