Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for a postdoctoral or a semi-independent Research Associate position depending on his/her previous experience and accomplishments to join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary, and dynamic research group of Dr. Kvaratskhelia at Division of Infectious Diseases, University of Colorado School of Medicine. The research will focus on interactions of new generation antiretroviral drugs and cellular cofactors with cognate viral proteins using structural biology approaches including X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM as well as the state-of-the-art biochemical assays including Homogenous-Time Resolved Fluoresce, AlphaScreen, Surface-Plasmon Resonance, Dynamic Light Scattering and Mass Spectrometry. All the instrumentation needed to curry out these studies are available in Dr. Kvaratskhelia’s laboratory or the campus core facilities. Candidates are expected to have previous experience with at least one of above techniques. Training for other techniques will be provided. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to interact with virologists in Dr. Kvaratskhelia’s laboratory to validate the biological significance of their structural findings. Early-stage researchers will be considered for a postdoctoral position. More experienced researchers with previous substantial postdoctoral accomplishments will be considered for a semi-independent Research Associate position. The above research projects are expected to generate high impact publications and provide the postdoctoral researcher/Research Associate with an excellent opportunity for further career development in academia or pharmaceutical companies. Our lab is located on the 11th floor of Research Complex II and has unimpeded, spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains.
