POSITION SUMMARYWe are seeking a talented self-driven Postdoctoral Associate with strong expertise in molecular biology, immunology, virology and biochemistry for an NIH-funded fellowship. The successful candidate will join a small team investigating HIV treatment strategies. The work will be highly translational. The person filling this position is expected to play an important intellectual, technical, and scientific role. The candidate will also assist with the preparation of grant applications, manuscripts, and contribute to additional projects in the lab.  The research project will focus on HIV immunotherapies to treat and prevent HIV infection. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment, pay close attention to detail and adhere to deadlines regularly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. He/she will be detail oriented, self-motivated, a fast learner and possess excellent time management, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. The ability to take direction and use independent judgment to meet experimental goals and deadlines is required. The successful candidate must be able to independently develop and troubleshoot experimental protocols, perform advance planning of experiment setups, collect data, and analyze results. A strong commitment to experimental goals, career goals and deadlines is required. Therefore, willingness to work into the evening and occasional weekend work is absolutely required. Prior post-doctoral experience is not required for this position. 

The successful candidate is expected to perform a variety of scientific tasks, including the following:

  • Recombinant DNA technology; mutagenesis; cell culture Recombinant glycoprotein and antibody production Evaluation of immunotherapeutic candidates in various animal models Set up and operate standard lab equipment of moderate complexity Record data providing basic analyses and interpretations Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required


  • Requires a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.  A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator. Prior experience in an HIV research lab or immunology lab is preferred. Experience in animal studies, flow cytometry/cell sorting and cloning is preferred. The successful candidate must be able communicate effectively in English (verbal and written), collaborate proficiently, and work independently.

This position works in a laboratory and vivarium environment.  Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
