Postdoctoral Position in Addiction Neuroscience in the Aston-Jones Lab at Rutgers Brain Health Institute

A postdoctoral associate is sought with experience in rodent behavior or brain immunohistochemistry. This postdoc will join the Aston-Jones lab to explore brain substrates of addiction using advanced behavioral economic and other behavioral and neurotransduction approaches in rat drug self-administration models. Research will use transgenic (orexin-cre; TH-cre) rats and local microinjections of DIO viral vectors into brain, immunohistochemical analyses, as well as assays for addiction-like behavioral phenotypes to identify brain circuits responsible for addiction. Join a leading neuroscience lab, with a strong record of post-doctoral mentorship and training, in an exciting circuit-level approach to understanding and developing new therapies for addiction and related mental health disorders.  With over 300 neuroscience faculty labs engaged in basic, clinical and translational research, the new Rutgers Addiction Research Center at BHI, with over 100 addiction research faculty, and proximity to New York, Princeton and Philadelphia neuroscience communities, Rutgers offers tremendous opportunities for collaborations, training and career growth. Applicants must have a strong academic record of independent research with a PhD or MD degree. Expertise with rodent behavior or brain immunohistochemistry is required.
