This position will function in the clinical research section of the Department of Neurology Parkinson's Disease Clinic Center and Movement Disorders Clinic. The Research Coordinator II will function in a capacity in which they manage, coordinate, and facilitate clinical research trials throughout their duration and coordinate research for the conduct of multiple clinical trials, under the supervision of PI and Clinical Research Manager.

This position is located at Baylor College of Medicine McNair Campus, in the Texas Medical Center.

Job Duties

  • Handles interviewing, screening and recruiting patients, site initiation visits, interim monitoring visits and close-out studies, explaining processes and procedures to educate the participants regarding the respective research study.
  • Schedules research participants for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Collects, processes, ships, and maintains paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents and records for respective research studies to ensure compliance with FDA and other governing entities.
  • Manages investigational drug accountability.
  • Collects patient information; processes documents and enters information into a database.
  • Performs Venipuncture (blood draws), EKGs/ECGs and obtains vital signs on study participants.
  • Assists with the required submissions, amendments and renewals to the IRB.
  • Orders research supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains investigational drug dispensing accountability and shipping logs according to protocol guidelines.
  • Screens and recruits patients for participation in clinical trials.
  • Discusses trials with patients, obtains informed consent, and enrolls patients.
  • Schedule all patient study related appointments, tests, and procedures according to protocol requirements.
  • Works with study monitors to ensure conduct of trial within GCP standards.
  • Collects, reviews, and submits research data to study sponsors, either via paper and/or electronic CRFs.
  • Ensures accurate study records, and maintains proper study documentation.
  • Documents study visits in EPIC system/EMR system as necessary.
  • Ensures that all study activities are in compliance with federal and institutional regulations.
  • Works with research assistant for venipuncture (blood draws), EKGs/ECGs, and obtain vital signs for study participants.
  • Works with Research Assistant to collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of research processes a must.
  • Basic knowledge of clinical research.
  • Ability to understand and implement patient studies and protocols.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate research studies.
