Job Details

The Immunology department at MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks to determine the fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms of a wide range of processes by which the body recognizes and eliminates pathogens and use these findings to unleash the patient's own immune system against previously treatment-resistant cancers. Treating the immune system rather than the cancer itself, the therapeutics developed are applicable to many cancers.

Immunology

KEY FUNCTIONS

Application Analyst
  • Working with Data Analyst, Product Manager and vendor, designs and implements processes and solutions associated with a wide variety of data sets used for data/text mining, analysis, modeling, and predicting to enable informed research decisions.
  • Gains insight into key translational research problems and deliverables by applying data analysis techniques to examine structured and unstructured data from multiple disparate sources.
  • Collaborates with IMT data coordinators, research scientists, processing technicians, etc., to define requirements and understand research data challenges/opportunities.
  • Uses advanced analytics and reporting methods to develop data visualization solutions.
  • Develops information tools, algorithms, dashboards, and queries to monitor and improve translational research and operational performance.
  • Effectively uses current and emerging data scientific methods and technologies.
  • Provides hands on development/enhancement/maintenance of moderately complex information systems, including but not limited to our Lab Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Work with Data Analyst and Lab Coordinators to organize cleanse and prepare data for loading
  • Works with users at all levels to identify potential application solutions that helps with enhancing productivity of the IMT Platform
  • Works with Data Analyst, Product Manager, vendor and end users to perform analysis of requirements, develop prototypes, and implement solutions
  • Identify and develop data visualization methods for high fidelity 6. data presentation
  • Work with key members of IMT on data standards and data sharing with Alliances
  • Unit/integration tests and maintains application code
  • Assists with requirements, design, development, and testing of APIs between our LIMS and Institutional solutions

Analytics & Reporting/General Functions
  • Analytics & Reporting
    • Work with Data Analyst, Product Manager and Data Coordinators to organize, cleanse and prepare data for loading
    • Work with Data Analyst and Lab Coordinators to organize cleanse and prepare data for loading
    • Works with users at all levels to identify potential application solutions that helps with enhancing productivity of the IMT Platform
    • Works with Data Analyst, Product Manager, vendor and end users to perform analysis of requirements, develop prototypes, and implement solutions
    • Identify and develop data visualization methods for high fidelity data presentation
    • Work with key members of IMT on data standards and data sharing with Alliances
    • Unit/integration tests and maintains application code
    • Assists with requirements, design, development, and testing of APIs between our LIMS and Institutional solutions
  • General Functions
    • Coordinate efforts with Systems Owners and User
    • Facilitate and coordinates the smooth flow of data management-related communication by acting as a liaison
    • Extracts and compiles various sources of information and large data sets from various systems or applications
    • Set up process for monitoring, tracking and trending information and data using various systems or applications
    • Prepares well-organized, easily understood reports, analysis, and summary of findings for use by management
    • Assists in preparation of regularly produced reports to support executive decision-making
    • Researches and analyze report results identifying opportunities and trends
    • Works with internal, external and enterprise individuals as needed to research, develop and document new standard reports or processes
    • Consolidates data from multiple sources, using industry based tools or manually; able to process data effectively using Microsoft Excel, Business Intelligence tools
    • Work with IMT Informatics and MDACC to develop Data Mining capability
    • Maintain and exercises AGILE development principles and practices
    • Supports management and other team members as requested on all things data related
    • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work in a high demand and dynamic environment
    • Ability to solve problems and provide solutions to all aspects of application and management challenges
    • Other duties as required with limited supervision


Education

Required: Bachelor's degree.

Experience

Required: None. May substitute required education degree with additional years of related experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: SQL server experience.
