We are looking for a talented, dynamic and academically driven Research Assistant to join our team, exploring how immune cell niches regulate antibody responses during infections with blood and respiratory pathogens. This is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to explore the possibility of developing an academic career path and who are interested in learning and refining their skills towards this goal.

You will support the research team in a wide variety of molecular and cellular approaches including flow cytometry analysis, sorting, construct generations, histological analysis, tissue collection, in vivo work etc and routinely liaise with direct supervisor, and other members of group, regarding experiments and general laboratory procedures.

You must hold a BSc (First class or Upper second class, 2.1) or higher degree in Biological Sciences, Immunology, or a related subject (not including pharmacology) and have excellent understanding how immune responses are orchestrated in tissues. You must have excellent conceptual understanding of how adaptive immunity is orchestrated in tissues , have previous experience in basic research, ideally in the field of immunology and have experience in troubleshooting, adapting protocols and recording results in a clear, timely and organised fashion. A Home Office personal licence or equivalent experience and experience with analysis of tissue sections by confocal microscopy is desirable.

This is a fixed-term, full time position for 3 years.

Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:
