Job Details

Postdoctoral positions are immediately available to work in the area of metastasis and cancer therapy resistance. The PI and colleagues have conducted seminal and impactful research on tumor metastasis (e.g., Nature 2007, Nature Medicine 2012, Cancer Research 2016, Nature Genetics 2018) and cancer therapy resistance, including radioresistance (e.g., Nature Cell Biology 2014, Nature Communications 2014, Nature Communications 2021), small-molecule inhibitor resistance (Cell Reports 2018, Nature Communications 2021), and immunotherapy resistance (Nature Communications 2021). The approaches we take range from biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology to mouse genetics. Recently, we developed an in vivo positive selection system to identify metastasis driver genes by using the next-generation forward genetics approach, and our screens have identified novel metastasis-promoting proteins.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
To obtain training on mouse models, metastasis, and cancer therapy resistance, to publish projects in high-impact research journals, and to learn scientific writing, presentation, and management skills before applying for tenure-track faculty positions.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
An individual holding a recent Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research and scholarship in preparation for a research career as an independent investigator. The research environment at MD Anderson is outstanding and nurturing, especially for applicants who are interested in cancer biology and translational collaborations.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION INFORMATION
We seek applicants who are self-motivated and career-oriented to join an exciting and highly interactive research team. We have a track record of training the best and the brightest postdoctoral fellows who have landed independent faculty positions, and several of them have obtained independent funding as the PI and published last corresponding-author research papers in leading journals (e.g., Nature Communications 2022).
