The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Toledo seeks to fill a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in Neuroscience. Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. with post-doctoral experience in neuroscience or a related discipline and have a record of strong scientific contributions in the field. In addition to neuroscience, other department areas of interest include cell architecture and dynamics, regulation of gene expression, innate immunity and other host disease defenses, and cell division/cancer biology, all unified by a common interest in cell signaling. It is important that the candidate is able to collaborate with other faculty within the department, and additional collaborative opportunities are available in the Department of Neurosciences in the College of Medicine and Life Sciences. Facilities include a modern research complex with sophisticated laboratories and access to outstanding research instrumentation including confocal and super-resolution microscopes, flow cytometers/cell sorters, and a new transmission electron microscope. The successful candidate is expected to advance excellence in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Toledo by establishing an externally-funded research program and contributing to undergraduate and graduate education. The Department currently offers B.A., B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. This position will be an integral part of a new B.S. in Neurosciences, offered jointly with the Department of Neurosciences, starting in 2023.
