The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI) seeks two exceptional candidates for its Center for Data Science and Informatics Core for Cancer (DSICCR) for research assistant professor, non-tenure track, faculty. The salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Qualifications: The individual should possess a doctoral degree in the areas of bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, or other quantitative sciences with research and training in bioinformatics. A record of verifiable, published research in bioinformatics is needed. The potential for obtaining extramural funding is not required, but encouraged. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to plan, coordinate, and direct data science and informatics research and service in structural biology and related fields. The candidate will provide technical expertise to facilitate the study, design, data collection, analysis pipeline development, data analysis, and results interpretation, as well as manuscript writing and grant proposal preparation. Collaborative research with faculty at UTHealth and other Texas institutions is included among the candidate’s responsibilities.
