Faculty Positions in Department of Microbiology and Immunology in Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology (M/I) in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth seeks applicants for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions. Candidates should propose a research program focused on any type of microbe or infectious agent or any aspect of immunobiology that addresses important and innovative questions broadly relevant to human health, disease, or treatment. We seek faculty who will develop robust, externally-funded research programs that make substantive academic contributions, create a high quality research training environment for lab members, and make meaningful contributions to department and program activities including teaching. A strong mentoring environment and opportunities for professional development are in place to help faculty meet these goals.

A competitive start-up package and access to state-of-the-art research and core facilities will be provided. M/I faculty members are members of the Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program (MCB), and may apply to be part of other Dartmouth graduate programs including in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS), Ecology, Evolution, Environment and Society (EEES) or Integrative Neuroscience (IND).

The department values the contribution of diversity to a more just society and innovative science. We commit to immediate and ongoing actions to enhance representation and inclusivity and pledge to fight against racial and gender-based injustice both in academia and in the broader community.

Candidates must hold a PhD, MD or equivalent degree and have relevant postdoctoral research experience. Applications will be evaluated based on accomplishments as well as potential, and thus the committee will consider manuscripts on pre-print servers as part of the application. Many Dartmouth M/I faculty participate in cross-departmental programs, training grants and collaborations, and we aim to hire individuals who will contribute to and benefit from the rich potential for research and professional interactions within the department and across Dartmouth (see search page for more information).

The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth is located in the neighboring towns of Hanover and Lebanon on the New Hampshire and Vermont border. Dartmouth is surrounded by a vibrant, academic and professional community offering excellent schools, lively arts, and an unmatched quality of life. Boston MA, Burlington VT, Montreal QC, New Haven CT and New York City NY are all within a few hours’ drive.

The following material should be uploaded to apply.interfolio.com/106872. Questions relating to the position can be sent to MISearch@groups.dartmouth.edu.

  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Summary of previous research, including two or three research accomplishments that the candidate would like to highlight, and a description of proposed research program (up to 3 pages)
  • Statement detailing one’s approach to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (up to 1 page).
  • Details of prior teaching and/or mentoring experience (up to 1 page)
  • Contact information (email and phone) from three referees familiar with the candidate’s research career

Application review will begin on September 15, 2022, and the committee will review new applications received by the first of each month (Oct. 1, Nov. 1, etc.) until the position is filled.
