A post-doctoral position is available in Dr. Chen and Dr. Zheng’s laboratories in the Department of Biomedical Science, University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford. We are pursuing two primary research directions. (1) To explore tolerogenic adjuvant for antigen immunization to induce antigen-specific immune tolerance/suppression (Cutting Edge, Journal of Immunology 2008, 180:5172-5176; European Journal of Immunology 2012, 42:1-9; Cutting Edge, Journal of Immunology 2014, 193:35-39). (2) To evaluate the role of neutralizing anti-HMGB1 IgM autoantibody, we recently identified (Journal of Immunology 2020, 205:407-413) in age-associated inflammation (“inflammaging”) and its related diseases, especially insulin resistance (IR)/type 2 diabetes (T2D). The successful candidate will determine whether the age-related impairment in producing this endogenous anti-inflammatory/protective IgM antibody partly contributes to diet-induced IR/T2D.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in immunology, molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field within the past five years. Prior expertise in multicolor flow cytometry, animal disease models, lymphocyte analyses, and signal transduction is preferred but not required.
To apply, you must visit https://uic.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/1/home/requisition/833?c=uic and include a cover letter, CV, and list of three professional references.
Applications will be accepted through November 22, 2022.
