Postdoctoral Fellow - Pain, Inflammation, and Neuroimmunology

A postdoctoral position is available in the Donnelly lab for individuals who are interested in conducting translational research focused on pain, somatosensation, inflammation, and neuroimmunology. 

Who we are and what do we do? Our lab conducts multidisciplinary preclinical and clinical research to understand how neurons interact with non-neuronal cell types in health and disease states, with an emphasis on translating these discoveries into new therapeutics to treat chronic pain and other inflammation-associated diseases (e.g., cancer and musculoskeletal conditions). We collaborate with a multidisciplinary group of colleagues who have expertise in neuroscience, cancer research, pharmacology, immunology, bioinformatics, and biostatistics, enabling our lab to pursue sensory neuroscience research at the interface of many scientific disciplines. Although we are also open to new ideas, the following federally funded projects are currently available for talented scholars to lead:

1. Cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating cancer pain and antitumor immunity
2. Single cell and multi-omic analyses to understand pain resolution in humans.
3. Oral and craniofacial sensory biology and mechanisms underlying chronic orofacial pain.

We have secured >$15M in extramural funding over the next five years, offering talented scholars secure employment and a unique opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research using innovative technologies to make meaningful translational advances, and we are recruiting multiple fellows currently.

Scholars are expected to publish papers in high-impact journals, attend and present at national and international meetings where they will compete for awards, and participate in scientific writing and/or grant writing.

Minimum Education/Degree Requirements: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M., D.D.S/D.M.D.) in a biomedical sciences-related discipline, preferably in a neuroscience, pharmacology, cellular/molecular biology, immunology, or bioinformatics. If the candidate has completed all the requirements for a degree, but the degree has not been formally conferred, the candidate may present evidence of completion of the degree requirements, together with a statement documenting the date on which the degree is to be conferred.
