Tenure-Track College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics

An Assistant Professor position in Molecular Genetics. This is a full-time nine-month, tenure-track position with research (60%), teaching (30%), and service (10%) responsibilities. The estimated start date is August 1, 2023.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, at Texas A&M University, seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track position with a nine-month academic appointment beginning August 1, 2023. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be required to develop and lead an independent, extramurally-funded, internationally recognized research program in modern Molecular Genetics. A research emphasis in any area of molecular genetics (from molecules to model organisms) is invited. Candidates with expertise in the areas of computational genetics and genomics, genetic engineering, integrative molecular genetics involving research on biochemistry/biophysics of nucleic acid, epigenetics or/and cellular and molecular signaling are particularly encouraged. Responsibilities for this position will also include teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the department, university, and the field, including possible outreach to industry.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in genetics, biology, biochemistry, or a related field is required. Evidence of potential for developing an outstanding research program and indications of strong mentorship and teaching skills are required.
