Two positions are available. All work in the laboratory is centered around the complement system and neuroinflammatory mechanisms. Projects encompass both basic and translational research. More specifically, ongoing projects involve investigating acute and chronic neuroimmune responses occurring after different types of traumatic brain injuries, including long-term neurodegenerative sequalae of injury. One project is focused on traumatic brain injury as a risk factor for Alzheimer’s Disease. Studies utilize different mouse models of mild and severe brain injury. Techniques will include advanced microscopy, cellular and molecular immune profile analysis, high dimensional analyses, detailed assessments of motor and cognitive functions, and the development of novel therapeutic approaches. The laboratory has been a leader in the development of novel targeted complement inhibitory strategies. The laboratory currently has 9 members.
