Rowan University seeks a dynamic and accomplished leader to serve as its next Vice President for Research (VPR). Reporting to the Provost and serving as a vital member of the university's senior team, the VPR will provide vision, innovation and leadership to build on the successes of the university's eight colleges and nine schools. The VPR will partner with senior leadership and faculty to realize an ambitious vision for the Division of University Research to both leverage current strengths and to accelerate the implementation of research to clinical practice while supporting the university's robust goal to reach R1 within five years.

Rowan University is a premier Carnegie-classified national doctoral research institution in New Jersey, named for the historic $100 million Rowan gift in 1992 which put the then-Glassboro State College on a fast track. Rowan University continues to bring more than $40 million in annual sponsored research and grants and is considered the fourth fastest-growing research university among public doctoral institutions. In a new partnership, Rowan University and Virtua Health, the largest health system in South New Jersey, have jointly committed $210 million to build a dynamic academic health system. This partnership will take advantage of research strengths and coordinate an integrated health care delivery system to conduct translational research and recruit leading research faculty to achieve an audacious vision for the future.

The VPR will have the opportunity to lead the Division of University Research in promoting and supporting research and scholarly and creative activity of all faculty, staff and students at Rowan University. The VPR will work closely with the university's diverse faculty who are renowned for their research expertise as evidenced by their competitive grant awards, peer-reviewed publications, creative works and national and international awards and recognitions.

The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in the sciences, engineering or medicine and have prior or current success as a principal investigator of an extramurally funded research program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in scholarly publications, an entrepreneurial spirit, strategic planning experiences and success in research program building. The next VPR will also bring deep knowledge about diverse funding sources; an appreciation for clinical research and discovery science; an ability to create innovative solutions to support research endeavors across disciplines and approaches; strong administrative leadership skills to bolster key infrastructure and enhance research capacity; an exceptional ability to advance an organization's research mission; and, evidence of fostering internal and external collaborative partnerships.

All nominations, expressions of interest and applications including a CV, letter of interest and a diversity statement should be directed to Joyce De Leo, PhD, Rachel Polhemus and Kim Migoya via email at RowanVPResearch@wittkieffer.com.
