Job Description

Are you passionate about science and interested in being part of an innovative drug discovery research team? The Novel Human Genetics research unit is seeking an engaging, motivated, and inquisitive bench scientist to support our drug discovery efforts in Pain, migraine and epilepsy.

The successful candidate will be lab-based and be responsible for conducting a variety of in vitro experiments to support our discovery research and portfolio projects: cell culturing of recombinant cellular reagents (HEK293, CHO, U2OS), preparation of solutions to be used in electrophysiological assays. Working closely with experienced scientists to ensure cellular reagents are provided at a high quality and in a timely manner. Dissection and culturing of primary neurons from the dorsal root ganglia and trigeminal ganglia of rodent. Familiarity with neurophysiology is a plus.

As a Senior Scientist of our team, you will be a key contributor to the development of breakthrough medicine by conducting high impact research. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

Key Accountabilities:
  • Maintain cellular cultures for routine experiments
  • Dissect and culture primary neurons from peripheral and central ganglia.
  • Communicate effectively of experimental outcomes to project teams in a timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with team members in a matrix environment
  • Maintain good records for laboratory notebooks

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • BSc with 2 years' experience (Biology/ Biotechnology/ Physiology/ Neuroscience or related scientific disciplines)


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • MSc (Biology/ Biotechnology/ Physiology/ Neuroscience or related scientific disciplines 1-2 years industry experience working in matrix environment
  • Experienced in assay development
  • Working experience with neuronal cultures
  • Experience demonstrating aseptic cell culture techniques
  • Ability to handle small laboratory animals and to perform tissue harvest
