GSK is currently seeking our next US Investigator Contracts, Benchmarking & Payments (ICBP) Manager!

This role is accountable to the Director of Clinical Operations Enablement and primary purpose is to lead a US-based team overseeing Investigator Contracts, Benchmarking & Payments (ICBP), including third party providers such as Contract Research Organizations (CROs) working at the direction of ICBP where necessary, for Pharma and Vaccine. Frequent interaction with GSK and vendor representatives at senior management levels is needed. The individual in the role requires a high level of knowledge and experience to apply this understanding to the conduct, management, and oversight of contracting and payment activities.

This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career such as:
  • Responsible for driving upper quartile performance by identifying key processes relating to budget development, contracting and payments and ensuring they are optimized to support US in-house studies.
  • Lead US ICBP team, providing oversight of local processes and tools related to budget development, site contract and site payments.
  • Accountable to lead a team of Contract Negotiators, Managers, and Payment Specialists by providing study/GSK related training, coaching, and mentoring for all staff. For internal staff this will include line and performance management, evaluating capabilities and competencies, identifying, and coordinating implementation of personal development plans.
  • Responsible for resource management and allocation to maintain business performance and a sustainable workload
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships with Legal, Finance, and US Leadership Team (LT), ensuring budget, contract and payment outputs are timely, high quality and fit-for-purpose.
  • Collaborates and communicates on key operational issues with matrix partners at the local, regional, and global level as required.
  • Responsible for managing overall performance, keeping track on GMASE/department and CRO metrics and making appropriate recommendation to the LT to ensure continued improvement.
  • Analysis and reporting of site contracting performance metrics to key internal stakeholders with clear recommendations to improve performance and inform site selection
  • In collaboration with Clinical Operation Head and Local/Regional Risk and Management Monitoring identifies management monitoring process checks linked with ICBP activities that require inclusion in the local quality plan
  • Responsible for standardizing processes, identifying, and sharing best practices and representing his/her team on internal and cross functional process improvement teams.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with functional partners including proactive stakeholder engagement and feedback collation from groups including Clinical Delivery, GMASE and Legal Lead the development of customer support processes to ensure customer requests are addressed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Continuous development of knowledge in the areas of GCP, internal company guidelines, SOPs, new technologies and capabilities
  • Available and willing to travel as job requires.
  • Ability to lead a functionally diverse team, remotely.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Extensive experience with budget development as well as site contract and budget negotiation
  • Bachelor's degree coupled with line and project management experience AND
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Healthcare Industry with an emphasis on vaccines/drug development, in a multidisciplinary environment
  • 2+ years of line management minimum
  • Expert operational knowledge of clinical research with experience in all stages of study lifecycle (start-up, recruitment and close out) and understanding of R&D and drug/vaccine development process
  • Experience with stakeholder management, as the role includes interactions with senior stakeholders at a central or LOC level
  • Experience with written and verbal communications skills are required in English and local language.
  • Direct experience in leadership, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain highly efficient and performing teams in complex environments


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Masters of Science, MBA, PMP, or equivalent
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, presentations and relationship skills to drive business performance.
  • Business acumen and demonstrated ability to think strategically, quickly appreciate the differing perspectivesin a givensituation and achieve a win-win outcome
