Drives accountability, leadership and focus on strategic business planning and operational excellence, ultimately improving business performance, effectiveness of evidence generation and medical support for the Oncology portfolio.

This individual plays a key role in supporting the VP and TA Head, as well as working closely with the Oncology Medical Leadership Team. Accountable for driving medical planning and operational excellence within the department (development of strategic priorities, objectives, measures/metrics, innovative and effective processes). Additionally, the role will act as Chief of Staff, working with HR and the Medical Leadership Team to improve overall staff engagement, development, and career progression.

Responsibilities:

Direct Support of the TA VP
  • Helps to set the TA's strategic priorities
  • Strategically manages the priorities of the TA VP and the US MALs, including evaluating opportunities and determining fit with other priorities.
  • Leadership team meeting facilitation, agenda development, and follow-up
  • Internal and External Communications: drafting newsletters, reports, business cases, or presentations for the TA VP.
  • Monitoring information flow: Sometimes acting as a gatekeeper, ensuring involvement in a project or decision-making process at the right moment.
  • Planning and leading TA team retreats, and other special events.

Project/Business Management
  • Overseeing large, cross-functional and/or organization-wide projects or initiatives.
  • Bring together multiple stakeholders and help drive decisions.
  • Researching, benchmarking, analyzing data, and making recommendations.
  • Creating systems and processes to streamline operations.
  • Manages Operations Director and contracted project management resources

Strategic Planning and Resource Management
  • Leads annual strategic and budget planning for the TA.
  • Makes recommendations on budget and headcount allocations to support priorities
  • Projects future budget and headcount needs


Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, graduate level

  • Prior experience of business operations, project management and change management with a track record of high achievement in this role (typically 5 years of project management experience of this kind)

  • Experience in managing the navigation of decisions and/or their execution through multiple parties in major, matrixed organizations




Preferred qualifications:
  • Higher degree preferred preferably with project management, business strategy and transformation background and experience in the medical sciences field (e.g. PhD, PharmD)

  • Oncology experience

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of GSK Pharma/R&D, people, structure, decision-making processes, business objectives and strategy

  • Excellence in program and project management

  • Experience of working in challenging business environments with senior GSK leaders, line leadership/executive teams

  • Excellence and clarity in written and verbal communication · Integrity in business and personnel confidentiality

  • A strong sense of initiative, urgency, pragmatism, judgment and influencing skills - an ability to make things happen

  • Consistent attention to detail, ability to deliver to demanding deadlines whilst maintaining the highest quality
