The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Wake Forest School of Medicine invites applications to fill two tenure track faculty positions with individuals working on bacterial or viral pathogens relevant to human disease. While all areas of focus will be considered, we are particularly seeking individuals studying gut pathogens, BSL-3 pathogens, respiratory viruses, interactions between pathogens and the microbiota, and antimicrobial resistance. The department is highly committed to promoting diversity across trainees, staff, and faculty.

Candidates should hold a PhD, MD or equivalent degree. In addition to maintaining a robust internationally recognized research program, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to departmental teaching and mentoring of graduate students and to support an inclusive culture that welcomes diversity of experience and thought. Start-up package, laboratory space, salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology has a highly collaborative, research intensive faculty that crosses the disciplines of immunology, virology, bacteriology, and cancer.  Wake Forest School of Medicine offers a dynamic environment for cutting edge multidisciplinary research. Collaborative opportunities with other research entities include an NCI-funded Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM), the Sticht Center on Aging, the Center for Human Genomics, the Center for Vaccines at the Extremes of Aging, and the WFU Primate facility.
