Assistant Professor-Tenure Track

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at New Mexico State University (NMSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2023. Applicants with teaching interests and research expertise in all areas of chemistry are encouraged to apply. Please see chemistry.nmsu.edu/facultyandstaff/faculty.html for current research areas. Our department has strong doctoral and undergraduate programs and promotes research and education in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. The ideal applicant is expected to conduct innovative research that complements and expands existing expertise in the department and to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program. Collaboration across broad areas of scientific study and participation in multi-investigator grant funding are encouraged. Candidates are expected to have a strong record of research accomplishments in their area. Teaching assignments may include courses in General / Organic Chemistry and in the successful candidate’s area of expertise.

A doctorate in Chemistry or related scientific field, postdoctoral training and a publication record commensurate with appointment to a Ph.D. program are required. The applicant is expected to develop an independent, extramurally funded research program.
