The Faculty of Physics invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) of Experimental Physics - Quantum Metrology and Sensing (Chair)

commencing as soon as possible.

The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of experimental Quantum Metrology and Sensing in research and teaching at the university. The call is addressed to outstanding scientists with an innovative research program aimed at developing protocols, sensors, and measurement techniques that can achieve fundamental quantum limited performance in measurement processes. Ideally, the research of the candidate should open up new innovative fields of application and/or be able to address fundamental physics questions. The work can be based on atomic and molecular, solid state or photonics-based platforms, as well as on hybrid quantum systems to realize quantum mechanical interfaces between different information carriers. The future holder of the chair is expected to play a major international role in shaping the research field of quantum sciences in the Munich research environment and to represent experimental physics in its full breadth in teaching. It is further expected that the successful candidate will play a leading role in and actively contribute to the Cluster of Excellence Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST) as well as the Munich Quantum Valley, an initiative of the Free State of Bavaria for the promotion of Quantum Sciences and Quantum Technologies, which is supported by the Hightech Agenda Bavaria.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.
