The College of Agricultural Sciences and the Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology is seeking an exceptional candidate with PhD (or equivalent) in environmental toxicology and/or chemistry, or related field, research experience in environmental toxicology and/or chemistry, experience or interest in risk analysis and communication, and professional experience or interest in Extension educational programs. We are particularly interested in development of research programs that enable Extension and outreach efforts in support of the implementation of sustainable agricultural chemical use practices, as well as address stakeholder concerns for potential impacts on human and environmental health. This Assistant/Associate Professor position will work closely with leaders in government and industry, colleagues in neighboring states, and public agencies including educational institutions in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest on complimentary efforts to foster sustainable practices and address stakeholder concerns regarding chemical use in agriculture, forestry, and urban environments. Duties and responsibilities for this 12 month 0.75 FTE tenure track position include:
Develop an externally funded research program that integrates environmental toxicology and chemistry
sciences, and risk analysis to identify relationships between environmental stressors, human and environmental health. Advise graduate Students. Supervise postdoctoral scholars, graduate assistants, and undergraduate student employees. Extend research expertise by contributing to Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology teaching.
Collaborate with professional colleagues to develop and implement a research driven Extension program that
integrates knowledge and information from environmental toxicology and chemistry, and related disciplines, to foster sustainable practices and to assist Oregonians in science-based decision making. Collaborate with other research and Extension personnel to extend research results using modern or innovative educational
technologies and approaches that foster sustainable agricultural production practices and the protection of
human health and natural resources. Supervise postdoctoral scholars, graduate assistants, and unclassified
employees.
Conduct scholarship and creative activity, including but not limited to generating intellectual work whose
significance is validated by peers and which is communicated. The scholarly outcomes for this position include but are not limited to development of sponsored research proposals and contracts, peer-reviewed scientific publications pertinent to the field, award of patents, peer-validated outreach efforts or materials, conference proceedings, and presentations at technical meetings and conferences.
Serve on committees that address environmental toxicology and/or chemistry issues at the state, national and
international level; serve on departmental, college and university committees; serve as manuscript and grant
reviewer for scientific journals, societies, and funding agencies; serve on professional society committees and panels; serve as liaison with Federal funding and regulatory agencies; assist with departmental, college and university fund raising and development activities.
