The Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Scientists in the Department work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment fostered by interactions among the nine basic science departments in the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences and with colleagues in clinical departments. We seek outstanding scientists who are addressing fundamental biological problems at a mechanistic level and whose research either complements or expands existing strengths in the department. Current faculty have expertise in areas including cryo-EM, cryo-ET, single-molecule biophysics, X-ray crystallography, NMR, and computational biophysics. We have state-of-the-art instrument facilities, including the Johns Hopkins Beckman Center for Cryo-EM (, which is fully equipped for both single particle cryo-EM and tomography. Diversity and inclusion are core values at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and in the Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at all levels, including faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff. For more information about the department, please visit

Candidates should have a PhD or MD degree and a strong publication record. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, exciting research program, display a commitment to excellence in teaching by participating in graduate and medical student teaching, and demonstrate a commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive biomedical research community.
