Faculty Position, Gene Expression and Regulation

The Wistar Institute, 3601 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America

The Gene Expression and Regulation (GER) Program at The Wistar Institute Ellen and Ronald Caplan Cancer Center in Philadelphia is seeking highly accomplished researchers to join the faculty at the level of assistant, associate and/or full professor.  We are especially interested in candidates with innovative research programs in single cell biology, functional genomics, and molecular-biochemical mechanisms that may be broadly applicable to the study of human cancers.  The ideal candidates are expected to establish robust extramurally-funded research programs that complement the existing strengths in cancer epigenetics, functional genomics, molecular virology, RNA biology, structural biology and drug discovery within the GER program and across The Wistar Institute.  Candidates with strong research accomplishments, publication record, and evidence of NIH funding acquisition are encouraged to apply.

As the nation’s first independent biomedical research Institute, The Wistar Institute is currently in the midst of a $75 million campaign to expand its faculty, technological platforms and educational programs.  The Ellen and Ronald Caplan Cancer Center has recently celebrated 50 years of continuous NCI Cancer Center designation and boasts a newly-constructed research tower with a state-of-the-art vivarium and outstanding core facilities including Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics, Imaging, Flow Cytometry, Molecular Screening & Protein Expression, Bioinformatics, and Biomedical Research Support, and support for Medicinal Chemistry. The Wistar Institute has a strong technology transfer focus in biomedical research and ranks fifth in the nation for royalties from intellectual property. We offer highly competitive start-up support, salary and fringe benefits in addition to an outstanding and interactive research environment. The Institute’s location in the University City section of Philadelphia, home for several high-caliber institutions, such as University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, provides vigorous academic and clinical collaborations, as well as attractive training opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
