As the HBSM Business Implementation Lead you will be responsible to deliver an integrated approach for biological sample management systems across GSK, that meets compliance goals & supports the ambition to deliver transformational medicines. This role will have accountability for the holistic delivery of the integrated HBSM strategy and provide a single point of contact for the implementation program at HBSM Board and other HBS related venues.

This role will report to the SVP & Global Head Experimental Medicine Unit acting here as the R&D HBSM Enterprise Process Owner and Governance Board Chair.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Be the designated member of the WREF led facilities team for UM4 storage location as the HBSM Process Owner delegate.
  • Act as delegate for the HBSM Process owner at HBS risk council and HBSM board chair as needed.
  • Seek opportunities for simplification and integration of discrete HBS processes.
  • Ensure on time delivery of new tissue repository at Upper Merion. Ensure stakeholder requirements and quality expectations are clearly documented and built into facility requirements.
  • Develop an integrated project timeline for the delivery of an end to end Tech solution to support pre-clinical, clinical, and post study sample management and inventory system. Ensure stakeholder requirements and quality expectations are clearly documented and built into Tech solution.
  • Design and implement a strategy that documents current global sample inventory and formalizes retention and consolidation guidance that reflects global requirements. Arrange for appropriate sample destruction where appropriate.
  • Lead enterprise due diligence on country specific HBS requirements for sample storage, sample access, and scientific use. Provide an aligned, forward-looking recommendation that reflects new GSK's needs for HBSM, and deliver that solution.
  • Work with HBSM SMEs to design and deliver a change management and communications program
  • Work with Organizational Development and Learning to build formal HBSM training plans to ensure compliance with all new systems and processes. This may include live or recorded MyLearning training as appropriate.
  • Providing strategic consultation (thought partnership) to Senior R&D Leadership, Medical, and business lines regarding the decisions and issues to be adjudicated at Governance.
  • Ensure key projects and regulatory requirements are anticipated, planned for, and governed.
  • Coordinate with other Medical governance boards to ensure agendas and discussions are appropriate to specific reviews with limited/no overlap.
  • Accountable for HBSM implementation working with multiple workstream leads across the GSK matrix.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's degree, or above, in life sciences/engineering
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Research and Development
  • Experience in Project/program management and/or operational experience
  • Experience in the drug discovery and development process and regulatory requirements
  • Experience leading large, cross organization change programs
  • Experience leading review committees with cross functional membership consisting of VP grade members or higher
