What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. In your role, you will join a team responsible for delivering in-silico solutions and capabilities to the broader Bioprocess Research and Development organization. You will implement and expand on first principles (mechanistic) modeling approaches available in the literature and utilize lab-generated data to create statistical models. You will work in close collaboration with wet-lab scientists to develop and validate the models establishing digital twins for critical unit operations. Through this work, you will enable enhanced understanding of complex manufacturing processes for recombinant proteins and biological macromolecules in early- and late-phase clinical trials leading to faster product launches and impact to the patient.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 + years of experience, Master's degree with 4+ years of experience, or Ph. D. with 0-4 years of experience in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or related fields
  • Experience with molecular dynamics solutions and its applications to bioprocess development.
  • Experience with computational chemistry suites including MOE and similar packages.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python/R for hard-coding relevant ODEs/PDEs for model development.
  • Knowledge of advances data analytics, machine learning methods (if needed), and software that provide new ways to build models, diagnose problems, and make informed decisions for biopharmaceutical processes.
  • Contribute to enhancing the ability to efficiently deliver a better exploration and utilization of the process data.
  • Improve the efficiency and quality of product development through utilization of scientific software, novel visualization tools, automated data provisioning pipelines.
  • Familiarity with bioprocess development and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in development and application of novel algorithmic approaches to optimize processes and/or accelerate data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in data mining, visualization, integration, and development of multivariate models in the bioprocess R&D context.
  • Proficient in Python, MATLAB, and working knowledge of Linux environments.
  • Experience with mathematical modeling of chemical reaction kinetics.
  • Familiarity with process analytical technologies (PAT) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with bioprocess process development and regulatory concepts is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD modeling software packages and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a plus.
