Junior Specialist in Plant Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry at the University of California invites applicants for a Junior Specialist full time to conduct applied research for the Paul Larsen Lab in Riverside, CA. This position will start on September 1, 2022. The purpose of this position is to assist in the development of plants with increased carbon capture. The final candidate will conduct basic plant growth experiments, screen for Arabidopsis mutants with increased carbon capture, grow and analyze transgenic maize plants, participate in experiments that study enzyme kinetics related to carbon capture, and assist in managing the day to day operations of the laboratory including cleaning and upkeep, ordering, making solutions, etc.
Required qualifications for this position that must be met by the date of application include: a B.S. in a Life Science field such as Biochemistry, Biology, Plant Biology or a related field.
Preferred qualifications for this position include: previous laboratory experience working on related experimentation to the project requirements.
Advancement through the Junior Specialist ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years
