The Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We seek researchers who define and address fundamental questions in cell biology, including the mechanistic analysis of cellular processes and the development, function, and dynamics of complex biological systems. We are also interested in researchers who are developing new technologies to explore and visualize cell biological processes.

Faculty in our department have diverse backgrounds and interests, including cellular, molecular, and structural biology, biochemistry, and neurobiology. We offer a supportive and inclusive community and are committed to building a diverse faculty. We strongly encourage applications from female candidates and candidates from underrepresented groups. Our vibrant research environment is highly interactive, and we encourage and foster collaborative efforts. We are committed to the success of our faculty, and we provide engaged mentoring and significant resources, including a highly competitive start-up package; substantial administrative and operational support; and cutting-edge facilities for advanced light and electron microscopy, computational image analysis, mass spectrometry, and high-throughput small molecule and genetic screening.

It is a core mission of ours to educate and mentor the next generation of scientists to succeed in a wide variety of careers. Our successful candidate will become a member of the training faculty in the umbrella Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) program, the largest of Harvard University’s biology Ph.D. programs, and will typically participate in additional, topic-specific Ph.D. programs within the Harvard Integrated Life Sciences (HILS) system.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Candidates must have an Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D degree. Applications should be uploaded to the ARIeS portal here: https://academicpositions.harvard.edu/postings/11415

The deadline for completed applications is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. All reference letters must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Interviews will occur in two phases: first via video conference in January and then in-person in February/March.
