A tenure track assistant professor position is available at Baylor College of Medicine to establish a research program in chemical biology or other areas broadly relevant to pharmacology and drug discovery.

Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is recognized as one of the nation's premier academic health science centers and is known for excellence in education, research, healthcare, and community service. Located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world, BCM offers a highly interactive environment and a strong infrastructure for research. The Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology is focused on using small molecules and biologics to understand and modify disease-relevant cellular processes.

The Department invites applications from outstanding scientists for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank in the field of chemical biology and drug discovery. Faculty in the department have diverse expertise, including drug discovery, enzymology, structural biology, biophysics, and biochemistry. Our drug discovery platforms include structure-guided drug design and fragment-based and DNA-encoded library-based drug discovery. The ideal candidate will provide complementary and synergistic expertise to our drug discovery efforts and develop an independent, funded research program in computational chemistry and biology. Our specific areas of interest for this position include protein/antibody design and engineering, structure-based drug design, computer-aided drug design (CADD), molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the target identification and drug discovery process. For candidates with computational expertise, preference will be given to candidates with an experimental component to validate computational results.

The candidate will supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and contribute to the educational programs in the Department and College. Candidates should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and postdoctoral experience as well as a strong record of research accomplishments. Competitive compensation and a generous start-up package will be provided. For consideration, applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a summary of research accomplishments, a statement of research interests, and the names of three references as a single PDF file. The single PDF file should be named as “last name first name.pdf”, such as “Smith John.pdf” and emailed to pharmacology@bcm.edu. The review of applications will begin on September 15 and continue until the position is filled.

Diversity among BCM's students, trainees, faculty, and staff is a prerequisite to accomplishing BCM's institutional mission, and maintaining the highest standards in training for healthcare providers and biomedical scientists, scientific innovation, and patient-centered care. BCM is committed to ensuring equal opportunity for all qualified persons without taking into account race, color, national origin, creed, sex, sexual orientation, ancestry, age, veteran status, or disability unrelated to job requirements.
