Senior Research Associate - Protein Engineering

Corteva Agriscience is a leader in delivering novel and sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture. The Input Trait Discovery group combines genomic analysis, activity-based screening, protein characterization and optimization to deliver novel insect control traits. We are seeking a Senior Research Associate to provide protein engineering expertise as part of an inter-disciplinary team.

This role will be on-site at our Corteva location in Johnston, Iowa.

Responsibilities - How will you help us grow?

• PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, DNA purification, sequencing, and transformation/transduction
• Develop, optimize, and execute high-throughput library screening workflow
• Perform sequence analyses and database searches using Geneious and other internal molecular biology and bioinformatics tools
• Conduct various assays to characterize proteins
• Written and verbal communication of plans, procedures, and results with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications
Requirements - What expertise have you grown?

Educational Qualifications:

• Candidates should have MS/MA with 2+ years of experience or BS/BA in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant research experience.

Competencies and Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to design primers, plasmid constructs, and libraries
• Have a knowledge of molecular biology methods including cloning, mutagenesis, DNA purification, bacterial cell culture, PCR, and sequencing
• Ability to design, optimize, and run plate-based assays in a high throughput manner.
• Proficiency with modern molecular biology tools and software
• Familiarity with bioinformatics sequence analysis tools like BLAST
• Experience in operating automation equipment such as liquid handlers and Qpix
• Have an experience of utilizing a plate reader for assays
• Experience of handling insecticidal toxins is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze large datasets and samples using Excel, JMP, or similar software
• Ability to organize, analyze, and deliver information in a concise, accurate, and professional manner
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
