The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a highly qualified Associate Research Scientist to work on translational projects in the laboratory of Dr. Markus Mapara focusing on prevention of graft versus host disease using graft engineering and development of novel gene-edited stem cell and immune cell populations which are tested in humanized mouse models of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The Mapara lab focuses in particular on the regulation of allo-immune and tumor-immune response in the context of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Additional projects are focused on studying the immune responses in the multiple myeloma bone marrow microenvironment and development of novel chimeric antigen-receptor expressing immune cell populations.

We are looking for a creative, energetic, meticulous, and dedicated associate research scientist to work on our projects. The qualified candidate will have a solid foundation and working knowledge of innate and adaptive immunology. The candidate should be experienced in mouse experimentation, proficient in functional assays of immune response (MLR, CTL) as well as in depth analysis of immune cell differentiation states, using multiparameter flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing.

Minimum Education Requirements: The qualified candidate will have completed a PhD in immunology or a related field and have at least three years of post-doctoral training. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with cellular immunology and molecular biology methods (RT-PCR, cloning, transduction/transfection is required).

The University offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.  Columbia Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran
