Research Assistant Professor - Human Geneticist in the Division of Genomic Diagnostics

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Human Genetics research. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include the development of a rigorous and nationally competitive research program consistent with the goals of the Division and contribution to our research mission. The establishment of collaborative work in genomic diagnostics is highly desirable.  The Perelman School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia are known for emphasis on translational research and the candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong record/potential in genetic or genomic translational, or clinical research.

We invite applications from outstanding individuals with strong productivity in translational research, to work with a clinically focused team on collaborative research. Clinically focused research may include the development and implementation of tools for improving diagnostic and translational medicine, establishing or improving standards and methods for the interpretation of genomic variants, or contributing to the understanding of pathogenicity of genetic variation with a focus on pediatric liver disease.

The major focus for faculty on the Research track is scholarship and the successful candidate will spend most of their time conducting collaborative or independent research with a distinctive, original, expert contribution. Research faculty are expected to obtain independent research grant support from federal and foundation sources or from participating in program projects or other group grants.
