The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoc to join our multi-disciplinary team of scientists in the field of Molecular Biology and Molecular Genetics led by Professor Carlo Rivolta.

IOB is a research institute associated with the University of Basel which combines basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its diseases and develop new therapies for vision loss. It is a place where your expertise will be valued, your abilities challenged, and your knowledge expanded.

Your responsibilities

  • You will be performing independent research on the molecular components of hereditary blindness, by leading one of more original projects

Requirements

  • PhD in the field of Biology, Biotechnology or any related field or MD degree
  • Extensive knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques and cell culture is required. Previous experience in immunofluorescence microscopy is a plus
  • Must be capable of performing forefront research independently or with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A good publication record is required
