Experienced Research Lab Technician

The Skok lab at the NYU School of Medicine is searching for an experienced lab technician. The successful applicant must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, passionate about gene regulation and cancer research, have excellent communication skills, maintain accurate and highly-organized experimental records, and work efficiently and collaboratively as part of a team. Essential experience: general molecular biology and biochemical techniques, such as DNA cloning and sequencing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, quantitative PCR, RT-PCR; applications of CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technology; cell culture. Preferred Qualifications: bachelor’s in Life Sciences or a related field; knowledge of NGS techniques (ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, Chromosome Conformation Capture technologies,…); mouse handling experience, though not mandatory for the position; ability to work independently while collaborating and assisting the team in its common research goals; ability to master new skills; Ability to solve non-routine issues; strong verbal communications skills; attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Job Responsibilities: perform routine cell culture; lentivirus production and transduction; general molecular biology and biochemical techniques, such as DNA cloning and sequencing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, quantitative PCR, RT-PCR and Western Blotting; recover plasmids from E. coli, perform minipreps, and characterize by sequencing; apply CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technology; perform in vitro and in vivo studies. Responsible for performing basic laboratory experiments under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision.
