Postdoctoral Associate in Molecular Cell Biology and Drug Discovery for a Tropical Disease
A position in molecular cell biology (protein kinases or endocytosis or kinetoplast biogenesis), molecular pharmacology, and drug discovery in Trypanosoma brucei is available in the laboratory of Kojo Mensa-Wilmot (https://facultyweb.kennesaw.edu/kmensawi/research.php ) at Kennesaw State University, Georgia, USA.

Responsibilities
- Plans and performs experiments, analyses data, submits reports or manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals
- Develops and contributes to new ideas for research proposals
- Develops an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in collaboration with mentor
- Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with institutional policies, and federal, state, and local regulations
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements: Ph.D. in molecular biology or cell biology or biochemistry from an accredited institution of higher education
Preferred Qualifications: Performs research activities such as design studies, literature review, data analysis, manuscript and report preparation, and supervision of students
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Abilities: Able to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously to meet assigned deadlines
Knowledge:
- Demonstrated ability to carry out independent and collaborative research on a team of faculty and students with the ability to meet deliverables and milestones
- Demonstrated creative and proactive approach towards problem solving
- Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field
- Knowledge of and experience in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related fields
Skills:
- Experience in tissue culture, confocal microscopy, cell biology, protein purification, gene knockdown in cells
- Science writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, problem-solving, organizational, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
