Position Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Staff Scientist to work in an innovative research program in Clinical Cancer Genomics at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Staff Scientist will work on multiple projects including, but not limited to, genomics and precision medicine, e-Health interventions, lung cancer, health outcomes, and cancer care delivery.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Study co-conceptualization and design; protocol development; oversight of study execution.
  • Data analysis
  • Manuscript writing
  • Presenting study findings at scientific meetings
  • Assisting in the identification of funding opportunities and grant writing
  • Maintaining a sophisticated understanding of the relevant scientific literature
  • Working in close collaboration with other team members and external collaborators
  • Other project-related or administrative responsibilities as needed

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • At a minimum, the candidate will have a U.S. equivalent Master's degree in an appropriate discipline. A Ph.D. or other doctoral level degree is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in quantitative, qualitative and/or mixed methods.
  • Excellent scientific writing, organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to perform and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office programs and statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS, STATA).
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques and interpretation of clinical data.
  • Strong written and verbal English is required.

Preferred education, experience and skills:
  • Prior evidence of obtaining grant funding.
  • Prior work with electronic health record data
  • Familiarity with cancer and/or genomics
  • E-health tool development and/ or health communication
  • Spanish and/or Mandarin language proficiency
