POSTDOC POSITION, YALE UNIVERSITY, DIVISION OF HUMAN GENETICS IN PSYCHIATRY for a highly motivated graduate student to join a productive and collegial research group working on the genetics of psychiatric illness – especially PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. A strong statistics background is required. Work will focus on (a) genetics of posttraumatic stress disorder, suicidality, substance use disorders, and many related psychiatric traits in the uniquely-informative Million Veteran Program dataset; (b) Psychiatric Genomics Consortium projects including substance use disorder genetics, and (c) studies in non-European populations to increase our understanding of genetics of psychiatric traits in diverse populations. Through these and several other current projects, we have access to large datasets including the Million Veteran Program and the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium. Other projects include a pharmacogenomics clinical trial for depression taking place in the VA system; a study of methamphetamine genetics in Thailand; and studies of epigenetics of psychiatric traits. The ideal candidate should hold an MD or PhD, and have a strong background in human genetics and statistics, with knowledge of genomewide methods, including GWAS and post-GWAS analysis; and comfort with bioinformatics. The candidate should also be able to work cooperatively with peers at Yale and with many other collaborators nationally and internationally; and bring research to publication. Our highly collaborative research division faculty includes Dr Gelernter, and also Drs Renato Polimanti, Daniel Levey, Janitza Montalvo-Ortiz, and Hang Zhou. Start date is flexible. Applicants should preferably have US citizenship or permanent residency. Please send application (including CV and contact information for at least three references) by email to Prof. Joel Gelernter at joel.gelernter@yale.edu.
