A research assistant and a staff scientist position are available for biomedical research in muscle diseases. For the staff scientist, the candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent. The successful candidate must have a strong background in molecular and cellular approaches, including cell culture, and common nucleic acid (PCR, qRT-PCR) and protein (ELISA, immunoblotting, immunostaining) assays. Experience in omics (next generation sequencing, proteomics profiling, single-cell sequencing) approaches and related bioinformatics skills is valued. Experience in preclinical research using animal models is a plus. A good track record of productivity judged by peer reviewed publications is preferred.

 

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to conduct innovative and independent research with a collaborative team. He or she will participate in our research in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy, including understanding disease mechanisms, developing antisense therapy for the disease, identifying circulating biomarkers (miRNAs and proteins) for upcoming clinical trials. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The lab location will be at the Children's National Research & Innovation Campus in Washington DC.
