Job Description

Research Associate 3

The Research Associate 3 will work independently in conducting immunoassay analyses, blood or urine sample extraction, method set-up, research and method development and validation of analytical methods for the analyses of both blood and urine samples. This position will conduct specialized technical research utilizing scientific equipment/procedures which require considerable experience in proper execution, analysis and interpretation.

95% - Duties include accessioning and labeling of samples, screening of all samples, and preparation of samples for instrumental analysis. Other duties are preparation of reagents and appropriate standards to follow quality control and good laboratory practice, completion of screening paperwork and any documentation pertaining to screening, and maintaining all supplies necessary to perform job including, but not limited to: instrumental analysis and maintenance, extraction, and work station setup; performing special extractions and esoteric screening procedures for further instrumental analysis as determined by the Director and Lab Manager; develop and validate sensitive and selective broad spectrum screening and confirmatory analytical methods for the detection of various banned substances in horse biological specimens using LC-MS/MS.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's with 2-4 years of related experience.

Experience Substitute: Master's degree in a related field

 

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Due to the nature of this position and/or responsibilities, this position is subject to random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67*

Physical Requirements-Required to be cable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, or sitting for prolonged periods, vision near sight, vision far sight, able to reach above and below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping, bending, and squatting.
 

Research Associate 4

The Research Associate 4 will provide management support in conducting immunoassay analyses, blood or urine sample extraction, method set-up, research and method development and validation of analytical methods for the analyses of both blood and urine samples. The incumbent must utilize advanced knowledge, abilities and skills to provide advanced analysis and to assist other researchers in obtaining analyzing and interpreting results. This position will conduct highly specialized and highly technical research utilizing scientific equipment/procedures in addition to providing independent research with only some administrative direction, but little technical supervision, and provide thorough and advanced analysis and interpretation.
