About the project
You will join the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI)-funded COMBINE project within the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Accelerator. In collaboration with European universities, research institutes and industrial partners from EFPIA and SMEs, you will work towards improvement and harmonization of preclinical models used in AMR research. Moreover, you will work closely with project partners within PEI and the Consortium to help to deliver improved tools for translation of non-clinical data to clinical success, which will help to accelerate the development of novel antibiotics and vaccines against AMR pathogens.
- Support the development of harmonized, standardized and quality controlled preclinical models for medicines development
- Perform and analyze in vitro and in vivo (murine infection) models to determine antibacterial activity/efficacy
- Support the generation of a repository of pre-qualified bacterial strains and anti-infective compounds with the aim of generating a quality control tool-kit for preclinical murine infection models
- Contribute your excellent technical skills in e.g. in animal models, microbiology and/or immunology to advance the consortium's mission, complementary projects (https://tipat.eu/) and the overall research theme of the Division of Microbiology
- Contribute to the smooth running of the lab (e.g. ordering, maintaining equipment)
- Completion of an appropriate technical training (BTA, MTLA, PTA or comparable qualification), alternatively an academic degree in Biological Sciences or related field
- Expertise and technical laboratory skills in immunology and/or microbiology
- Hands-on experience with in vivo rodent models
- Interest to work in a multi-faceted consortium at the interface of experimental microbiology/immunology and regulatory science
- German and English language skills
- Experience in flow cytometry, ELISA and bacterial/cell culturing
- Experience with bacterial infection models in mice
- FELASA Function A (FELASA B), or equivalent accredited animal experimentation course certificate
- Experience in the generation and analysis of in vitro and in vivo preclinical efficacy and PK/PD data for anti-infectives (antibiotics, antibodies, phages and vaccines)
A stable, multifaceted, and challenging position centrally located in the Rhine-Main area (Frankfurt) with good public transport connections (motorways/highways, airport, and fast commuter train). The successful candidate will be employed on a fixed term contract until October 31, 2025. Part-time working is possible in principle. The payband is E 9a TVöD (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst, Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Public Service). The assignment to a payband is made based on the consideration of your individual professional experience.
